Letters, clippings, photographs, slides, film reels, and television scripts by, to, or about Harry S. Truman, focussing on his experiences as an artillery captain in World War I and his years as President. Letters, chiefly between Truman and Arthur W. Wilson, include a substantial letter Truman wrote from Verdun in January 1919, detailing his artillery unit's movements and experiences in combat in the fall of 1918. Subsequent letters are mainly social in nature, but include a 1963 letter by Truman in which he gives his opinion of a recent television documentary on him.
